National Geographic keeps a Running List of How President Trump is Changing the Environment… For the Worse

From the executive orders to the new supreme court justice — there are a lot of long-term damaging aspects of the Trump presidency. But one that weighs heavily on the hearts of Progressives in America is the administration complete ignorance to the threats of Climate Change.

At National Geographic, they are maintaining a running list of how President Trump is changing the environment for the worse. I highlight recommend reading through — and then coming back in a few months to see what new impacts there likely will be. It’s devastating to think of the long-lasting impacts of the irresponsible decisions being made  in Washington by Trump and the Republican Party. Take a look for yourself:

This is the recommended song you can listen to while you read this list:

If you don’t want to put yourself through the full experience on National Geographic;s updated page, here are some of the unfortunate highlights:

Liberals in America know that Climate Change is not a hoax — and that we have to do a big part to combat the negative impacts that humans have made to the environment. Bernie Sanders made this a major piece of his response to the President’s State of the Union. In contrast, the Democratic party response (which was separate from Senator Sanders; response) did not highlight the threat of Climate Change.

Here is what Bernie had to say in response to Trump not mentioning the environment in the 2018 State of the Union address:

“How can a president of the United States give a State of the Union speech and not mention climate change?” he said in his own rebuttal. “No, Mr. Trump, climate change is not a ‘hoax.’ It is a reality which is causing devastating harm all over our country and all over the world, and you are dead wrong when you appoint administrators at the EPA and other agencies who are trying to decimate environmental protection rules and slow down the transition to sustainable energy.

Progressive Americans want Peace; not War! John Bolton and President Trump are Bad News!

With one tweet, President Trump put World Peace in grave danger:

It’s no question that John Bolton — President Trump’s pick to be the new National Security Advisor — is dangerous for any peace-seeking individual on this planet earth. Here is a collective of some of Bolton’s shocking past comments — and some of the reactions to Trump’s pick:

Of course, the majority of Americans don’t want to see their country get anywhere near another war. Three times last year, an NBC News / Survey Monkey Poll was conducted and participants were asked to rate how worried they were that the United States will become engaged in a major war in the next four years during President Trump’s presidency. Here were the results (of course, from before Bolton’s nomination), which show that Americans are very worried:

North Korea is one concern — back given his background, John Bolton is likely more interested in Iran and the Middle East. It would be interested to see how fearful Americans are now that John Bolton has been selected by Trump. One thing is clear — War is not the answer! The world needs peace — not Trump.

Every Vote Counts! Let Pennsylvania’s Special Election Be An Example for Democrats

Conor Lamb went into the March 13’s special election understanding that every vote counted — and his campaign proved it. Lamb won a district in Pennsylvania that had been gerrymandered to the extreme in an attempt to make it impossible for a Democrat to win. In fact, a Democratic opponent hadn’t even been run in the district during past election cycles. But Lamb’s campaign, a rejection of Trump’s politics and views, went out and showed that when given the opportunity and someone to believe in, voters will turnout even in the most unlikely of places.

Keep in mind the critical role that Pennsylvania played in the 2016 Presidential Election. Hillary Clinton infamously overlooked the three states that lead most directly to her electoral college defeat. Thanks to our winner-takes-all system, despite winning the popular vote Hillary did not win the election. Ultimately — as Conor Lamb has proven — it comes down to turn out. Had Hillary’s campaign been able to convince Progressive leaning citizens in these Conservative parts of the country that their votes counted, she may be our president today.

The lesson? If Democrats want to win, they need to engage Progressive voters in every part of the country. They are out there! But their votes need to be earned by Democratic local candidates who can inspire them to get out and vote by championing liberal causes. The American people are ready to reject Trump and don’t want to send people to Washington that will help him. The Democratic Party has to do their part and

Senator Bernie Sanders makes it clear what every Democratic Party needs to do:

We need a 50-state strategy, so that half the states in this country have a Democratic Party, which today does not exist.

Let it ring from Lamb’s tweet from sea to shining sea — especially this November:

Every vote counts.

Hypocrisy on Fox News over Kim Jong Un Meeting — Reactions to Obama vs Trump

What? Hypocrisy on Fox News? Someone call Jon Stewart!

Not that’s a surprise by any means — But it has been interesting to watch the reaction of Fox News Correspondents since President Trump has agreed to met with North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un.

NowThisNews put together a great compilation of the hypocrisy at play — by showing footage of how the propaganda machine reacted when President Obama stated that he would be willing to meet with Kim Jong Un.

No matter what your opinion is of either of these two Presidents or of the growing North Korean nuclear threat — One thing that you cannot deny is that Fox News is as biased as can be. When need to keep an open mind to ideas when they are present to us — not react based on the skin color of the individual presenting the idea.

Oprah’s 60 Minutes Round Table highlights America’s Hope

A group of Michigan voters, who have taken on the name “America’s Hope,” are proving that Americans are greater than the politicians who represent them. 60 Minutes Special Contributor Oprah Winfrey and Republican Pollster Frank Luntz first gathered the 14 Michigan voters over the summer — half Trump voters, half Clinton voters.

Amazingly, the group of 14 have stayed in touch and developed friendships despite their political divides. They talk daily in a Facebook message thread, where the President’s tweets and the gridlock in Washington are constant topics of debates.

In her first report for 60 Minutes, Oprah Winfrey explores the political divide in the U.S.

The first report played this past September:

Oprah Winfrey leads another discussion with 14 Michigan voters

The group was reassembled in the New Year and the second report aired in February:

The group still disagrees on most issues — and no one has changed their mind. But their continued communication shows that with a little extra engagement, the average American citizen can be more bipartisan than our elected politicians.

If this experiment could be repeated across America — that is — if strangers with different political believes engaged daily with their neighbors, I think that our communities would be stronger for it. You can see in the second report how the group is able to act cohesively despite their differences; even getting together for social outings. For example, they are able to take on really complex topics such as the #MeToo movement, in part because they have developed respect for one another and will actually hear each other out.

One thing they all agreed on — their options are not well reflected in Washington:

Jeff: You know, I think if we really get down to it, those of us that are on the right side of the equation, we’re not always, what, we don’t always want to be defined by Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan. And the folks on the left, they don’t always want to be necessarily defined by Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.

Jennifer: Not at all.

Jeff: Because there are positions that those groups hold that aren’t real congruent with what a lot of us think sometime.

Tom: Agreed. One hundred percent.

Lauren: That’s right.

Jeff: And you know, maybe that’s our fault for letting the parties go the way they have and the platforms that have been created. But ultimately it’s gonna be up to us if we want to fix it or not.

That is one major thing that Oprah’s experiment on 60 Minutes has revealed clearly — our two party system is a failure! It would be interesting to have these 14 people split up into new political parties and see how many they naturally form.

We know one insecure American who was watching Oprah’s reports:

I wonder what the America’s Hope group had to say about that tweet! Read more here:
