Nintendo has updated it’s E3 website to reflect their plans for 2018: https://e3.nintendo.com
Top players from around the globe will face off in electrifying Nintendo game tournaments. Who will come out on top? Tune in and find out!
Not a ton of specifics have been provided — but confirmation that Nintendo is once again planning to dominate the news cycle the week of the event is great to hear. Nintendo has announced two game tournaments for Nintendo Switch — Splatoon 2 World Championship 2018 and the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018.
Now when it comes to what Nintendo will actually be announcing — that we will just have to wait for. One thing is certain:
Marvel Studios has announced that production is under way on their female-led 2019 title, Captain Marvel. In a press release sent out today, Marvel explains that the film will be set in the 1990s.
“Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The major announcements hidden within the press release are three new cast members who will be reprising roles from other MCU titles. Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace both return from Guardians of the Galaxy, in which they both played powerful Kree characters — Korath the Pursuer and Ronan the Accuser. It will be interesting to hear these character’s backstories and learn what they were up to while Peter Quill was still a young scavenger with Yondu’s crew.
Clark Gregg will also be returning to the movie side of the MCU to get involved with this 90’s Kree Invasion. Since the film is set prior to the character’s death during The Avengers, Gregg can finally reprise his popular role of Agent Coulson on the big screen. Of course, we know from Agents of SHIELD that Phil Coulson and his team have had their share of Kree adventures:
With these latest additions, the cast is really filling in and becoming one of the most impressive in the MCU! It will be great to see Samuel L Jackson back as Nick Fury to really tie the universe together — and to see Jude Law (Robert Downey Jr’s costar in the Sherlock Holmes franchise) join the MCU. Read the full press release on Marvel.com!
The film stars Academy Award® winner Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
Conor Lamb went into the March 13’s special election understanding that every vote counted — and his campaign proved it. Lamb won a district in Pennsylvania that had been gerrymandered to the extreme in an attempt to make it impossible for a Democrat to win. In fact, a Democratic opponent hadn’t even been run in the district during past election cycles. But Lamb’s campaign, a rejection of Trump’s politics and views, went out and showed that when given the opportunity and someone to believe in, voters will turnout even in the most unlikely of places.
Keep in mind the critical role that Pennsylvania played in the 2016 Presidential Election. Hillary Clinton infamously overlooked the three states that lead most directly to her electoral college defeat. Thanks to our winner-takes-all system, despite winning the popular vote Hillary did not win the election. Ultimately — as Conor Lamb has proven — it comes down to turn out. Had Hillary’s campaign been able to convince Progressive leaning citizens in these Conservative parts of the country that their votes counted, she may be our president today.
The lesson? If Democrats want to win, they need to engage Progressive voters in every part of the country. They are out there! But their votes need to be earned by Democratic local candidates who can inspire them to get out and vote by championing liberal causes. The American people are ready to reject Trump and don’t want to send people to Washington that will help him. The Democratic Party has to do their part and
Senator Bernie Sanders makes it clear what every Democratic Party needs to do:
We need a 50-state strategy, so that half the states in this country have a Democratic Party, which today does not exist.
Let it ring from Lamb’s tweet from sea to shining sea — especially this November:
Every vote counts.
What? Hypocrisy on Fox News? Someone call Jon Stewart!
Not that’s a surprise by any means — But it has been interesting to watch the reaction of Fox News Correspondents since President Trump has agreed to met with North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un.
NowThisNews put together a great compilation of the hypocrisy at play — by showing footage of how the propaganda machine reacted when President Obama stated that he would be willing to meet with Kim Jong Un.
No matter what your opinion is of either of these two Presidents or of the growing North Korean nuclear threat — One thing that you cannot deny is that Fox News is as biased as can be. When need to keep an open mind to ideas when they are present to us — not react based on the skin color of the individual presenting the idea.
Fans of Super Mario Odyssey probably spent most of 2017 with this joyful tune stuck in their head from the Nintendo Switch instant classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4xW9aCg2zY
That’s right — Pauline from the original Donkey Kong is back! And with the help of the band that Mario found around New Donk City, she sings the song about halfway through the game. If you like the song, you are in luck. You can easily spend an afternoon on YouTube listening to great covers of “Jump Up, Super Star!” by some really creative fans. Here are some of our favorites:
5. Violin Cover / Remix by String Player Gamer
This fiddle player sounds like he is straight out of a Mario Kart soundtrack.
4. Piano Cover by かてぃん / Hayato.S
This guy has some serious talents on the keys! Definitely worth watching through to the end of this one.
3. A Cappella Cover by PXL8
There are a lot of great A Cappella covers on YouTube — But this group takes the cake.
2. Acoustic Cover by The Team Players
As with A Capella, you can find plenty of Acoustic covers of “Jump Up, Super Star.” These two love birds top them all (and they have other great Nintendo songs on their Channel!)
1. Super Mario Odyssey for Gamecube? – Alternate Reality Game Music by Nick’s Personal Symphony
Once you listen to this version, it’ll be forever stuck in your head.
So when are we getting a vinyl release for Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo?
Hope you enjoyed these selections. Here is a bonus video for big fans of the music in Super Mario Odyssey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SapIAVaFUdk
