From the executive orders to the new supreme court justice — there are a lot of long-term damaging aspects of the Trump presidency. But one that weighs heavily on the hearts of Progressives in America is the administration complete ignorance to the threats of Climate Change.
At National Geographic, they are maintaining a running list of how President Trump is changing the environment for the worse. I highlight recommend reading through — and then coming back in a few months to see what new impacts there likely will be. It’s devastating to think of the long-lasting impacts of the irresponsible decisions being made in Washington by Trump and the Republican Party. Liberals in America know that Climate Change is not a hoax — and that we have to do a big part to combat the negative impacts that humans have made to the environment. Bernie Sanders made this a major piece of his response to the President’s State of the Union. In contrast, the Democratic party response (which was separate from Senator Sanders; response) did not highlight the threat of Climate Change. https://grist.org/article/is-bernie-sanders-the-only-one-still-talking-about-climate-change/
Here is what Bernie had to say in response to Trump not mentioning the environment in the 2018 State of the Union address:
“How can a president of the United States give a State of the Union speech and not mention climate change?” he said in his own rebuttal. “No, Mr. Trump, climate change is not a ‘hoax.’ It is a reality which is causing devastating harm all over our country and all over the world, and you are dead wrong when you appoint administrators at the EPA and other agencies who are trying to decimate environmental protection rules and slow down the transition to sustainable energy.
